NSFAS accommodation near me: how to find accredited rooms
If you are searching for "NSFAS accommodation near me" or a "list of NSFAS accredited accommodation 2026 PDF", you have probably landed on sites that promise a list and deliver adverts. Here is the honest version: where accredited accommodation is actually listed, how to search it by campus or suburb, and how to check that a room is accredited before you commit.
Is there an official list of NSFAS-accredited accommodation?
There is no single national PDF that stays correct. Accreditation is granted per property, it has to be renewed, and beds fill up during the year, so any downloadable list is out of date almost as soon as it is shared. Be wary of sites that ask you to pay, register or share your myNSFAS login to see a "2026 list".
The real sources are: the NSFAS student accommodation portal, which you reach by logging in to your myNSFAS account; your own institution, since many universities and TVET colleges publish or email their own list of accredited private providers and some manage accreditation themselves; and the providers, who can show you their accreditation for the specific building. Our guide to NSFAS-accredited accommodation explains what accreditation means.

How to check that a room really is accredited
- Ask the provider for proof of accreditation for that specific building and the year it applies to.
- Confirm it with your institution's residence or financial aid office, or on the NSFAS accommodation portal.
- Check that the rent is within the NSFAS cap for your area - see our accommodation allowance guide.
- "We accept NSFAS students" is not the same as being accredited. If you live in unaccredited accommodation, the allowance may not be paid.
- Never pay a "placement" or "list" fee, and never share your myNSFAS password. See our rental scams guide.
Guides for your university
